During the 20th Biennial Conference of the World Conference for Gifted and Talented Children in Louisville, KY, #gtchat and friends held a TweetUp to bring together those attending the conference who had met through #gtchat on Twitter.

By any measure, it was a success! Guests came from the U.S., Mexico, New Zealand, the UK and Vietnam. They represented the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented, the NAGC, American Mensa, Potential Plus K, the Vietnam Association for Talent Development and Human Resources, Gifted Homeschoolers Forum, #coffeechug PLN, SENG, AHA Learners, giftednz, IEA Gifted, Ingennios, Hoagies Gifted, ESSDACK and Great Potential Press. The gathering was only limited by space!

In fact, a second impromptu gathering occurred the following evening that added guests from Ireland and Australia (via Skype) who represented Gifted Resources and the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children.

What happens when you fill a room with gifted adults? Rich and engaging conversations, laughter, memorable stories, formation of intellectual bonds … a profound sense of the future and ‘what next’.

There will be two more TweetUps this year at the Annual Conference of the National Association for Gifted Children in Indianapolis in November and at the Annual Conference for the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented in Houston in December. If you would be interested in joining us, please DM @gtchatmod on Twitter or email me at gtchatmod@gmail.com for details as they become available.
